About Sundown Trading Co.

Sundown Trading Co. started in 2015 with a simple frustration: South Africans who wanted genuine Field Bar, SMEG, or Stanley gear had to deal with grey-market imports, inflated prices, or products that quietly turned out to be imitations. We set out to fix that – by importing the real thing ourselves, directly from the brands we trust, and selling it to South African homes at honest prices.

A decade later, that’s still the entire business. We’re a South African retailer specialising in three brands we believe in completely: SMEG, for the kitchen that deserves a bit of Italian style; Field Bar, for coolers and bar equipment built to handle the outdoors; and Stanley, for bottles and drinkware that outlast every trip you take them on. We don’t chase every trend or stock every brand under the sun – we’d rather do three brands properly than twenty badly.

Authenticity, non-negotiable

Every single product that leaves our warehouse is genuine, authentic imported stock. Not grey-market. Not a lookalike. Not “inspired by.” We import directly and keep our supply chain short and accountable, specifically so that when a customer buys a SMEG kettle or a Stanley flask from us, they get exactly what they paid for – backed by a real manufacturer’s warranty, not a question mark. In a market where imitation goods are everywhere, we think that’s worth protecting fiercely.

Built for golden hour

Our name isn’t an accident. Sundown is when South African life happens properly – the braai is going, the cooler box is stocked, the Stanley flask has made it through a day on the trail, and the kitchen is winding down after a weekend of cooking for family. We build our range around that golden hour, whichever form it takes for you: a bar fridge humming quietly on the patio, a Field Bar cooler in the back of the bakkie, or a SMEG stand mixer finishing off dessert before the sun goes down. Our gear is there for the outdoor living, the long table lunches, and the sundowners that make this country what it is.

Based in Durban, we deliver across South Africa – from Cape Town to Johannesburg, Gqeberha to Polokwane. Bulkier items like bar fridges get the careful handling they need, and every order is tracked from our door to yours. We’ve shipped thousands of orders since 2015, and we treat every single one with the same care as the first.
